Today I met with the Development Worker at Refugee Action based in Manchester as I will be volunteering on the creative project over the next few months. I was really keen to get involved on this project as I am really interested in people and their life experiences, I also see art as a therapy myself and wanted to give something back to an organisation who really help other people in the community.
During the project I will be working with an artist, volunteers and individuals on the programme by making shadow puppets and bringing them to life with the help of a local drumming group. My role will be to support the artist, facilitate with group meetings and help with making the puppets. I will also have a chance to talk to the people within the group and find out about them.
I am really looking forward to getting started with this project and I think it will be a great experience. I look forward to sharing some photographs of the puppets later on.

PICK ME UP, London
On Friday I went to PICK ME UP Graphic Arts show at the amazing Somerset House in London. I really enjoyed the event and feel super inspired to push myself more and more as I progress into Level 6. Although I tend to work more in 3D and have a love for animation, it was refreshing to look at other styles and see work in different mediums.
I read an article on the illustrator Hattie Stewart who is big news at the moment, Hattie customises vintage Vogue and Playboy magazines with her quirky designs using pen and ink, she has a very unique style and it's grabbing alot of industry attention at the moment and she is getting commissioned and collaborating all over the place!.
For me, just seeing illustrators selling their artwork for a generous price inspired me to think about starting selling things I make and draw and trying out new things, it also has sparked lots more ambition in me.
I also bought a beautiful pattern book and 2 Valentino postcards that are amazing.
Below are some pictures I took during my visit...

OFFSET 2013 - Dublin
I have just booked my flights to Dublin for OFFSET 2013 that is being held in Dublin on 5th, 6th & 7th April at the amazing Bord Gais Energy Theatre. I am really excited about going to this event as there will be a wide variety of Illustrators, Graphic Designers and Animators speaking at the event about their practices, influences and the industry and I feel it will be very knowledgeable to listen to them, and of course a little trip to Dublin will be a delight too!

Just So Sense of Place
I recently made contact with Sarah & Rowan who own Just So Festival to express my strong interests in volunteering for them at Just So 2013. They got back to me and advised they were more than happy for me to go down to their lovely office and meet them to discuss my ideas etc.
Before I meet them I will put together a 'Sense of Place Book' to visualise my ideas as I want to hold a 'Tribal Animal' activity at the festival that will tie in with Just So's animal theme. I already have ideas of colours, masks, tribal themed decor and totem poles etc.
Below are a few things that spring to mind that I will use in my 'Sense of Place'...
